(B) - After a small waterfall, there are some artifacts and pieces of an old plane wreck, left side of trail (UTM: 613390mE 5277533mN). (C) - This picture was taken from the talus slope looking up towards Adit #8, at about 3800' (UTM: 613580mE 5277473mN). (D) - This view is of Adits #6 & #7 across the basin, Bear Lakes above (UTM: 613719mE 5277430mN). (E) - Adit #8 is seen just below the cliffs next to a small waterfall (UTM: 613837mE 5277420mN). Driving: Drive the North Fork road from North Bend 23 miles to the Bare Mountain Trailhead. This road can be rough, allow 1 hour from North Bend. Room for a half-dozen cars are the trailhead. Hiking/Bushwhacking: Refer to our earlier Bear Basin route page to get to the point in the basin below Adit #3. Once you get onto the talus slope below Adit #3, traverse west and up slightly towards the watercourse coming down from the direction of Adit #8. The stream seems to flow below the talus at the lower elevations, so it's hard to see until you climb higher. There will be much green growth along the watercourse, so aim for that. Once you find the stream, head directly up it (some tough steps) until the basin wall is met.
