Sidney Mine
October, 2004

This trip was organized by Northwest Underground Explorations. Shown here are some of the photos from that day. The Sidney Mine is located in 76 Gulch up from the Monte Cristo townsite. After exploring the Sidney Mine, we continued up the gulch to find the Sheridan Mine, and then back down to the Liberty Mine. 76 Gulch is one of the first areas mined in Monte Cristo.

We bushwhacked up 76 Gulch from Peabody Rock, but a nice trail runs on the opposite side of the creek.

This old mining claim was attached at the adit of the Sidney Mine.

A view into the Sidney Mine, showing the shoring and water. It was possible to keep your feet dry though.

Examining minerals inside the Sidney Mine.

Taking photos of the small stope and shoring near the back of the Sidney mine.

Taking video inside the Sidney Mine.

Getting ready to leave the Sidney Mine.

The Sheridan Mine was wet, and looked kind of scary at the start.

The Liberty Mine also was wet. The orange color of the walls is due to sulfide rust.
